Our Marketing and Communication team’s primary obligation is to tell the Non-GMO Project story by guiding, managing, and building our external messaging and communications. We have an eye for beautiful design and a knack for weaving together language and science to tell our unique story. What We’re Looking For 

We are looking for a motivated and thoughtful Marketing Operations Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you’ll work with the Marketing team to support communication and education around the GMO issue, the belief that food should nourish life, and the holistic mission and values of the Non-GMO Project. The Marketing Operations Coordinator will support email marketing campaigns, coordinate physical media, handle communication and planning tasks for events and campaigns, and help maintain the integrity and activation of several databases. We are looking for a teammate who can use their creative thinking and ongoing learning to contribute to our marketing work. This role will report directly to the Marketing and Mission Education Manager and will work with the Marketing team to advance our marketing and education efforts through innovative and collaborative work. 

Areas of Responsibility 

Email Marketing

  • Coordinate, execute, and deploy campaigns across email channels
  • Ensure messages align with the specifications and visual identity of the organization
  • Organize and develop organizational systems for produced media
  • Assist external contractors in campaign delivery

Database Maintenance

  • Support the maintenance, integrity, and security of several databases
  • Produce thoughtful reporting in relation to campaigns and org-wide goals 
  • Contribute to analysis, coordination, and planning by applying knowledge of org processes and systems (developed throughout onboarding and time with the organization)

Event Coordination

  • Support the execution of events such as virtual webinars, giveaways, and trade shows 
  • Identify and coordinate logistics, establish contacts, and maintain schedules
  • Maintain inventory of digital and physical sales support materials; distribute and restock materials as needed, including through self-scheduled office and other site visits

Communication

  • Answer phone queries in alignment with the organization’s knowledge and style
  • Collaborate and provide additional support services as needed for the Marketing team
  • Help activate the Butterfly Brand through creative, brand-aligned, and compelling B2B/B2C marketing

  • Able to visit the Non-GMO Project office in Bellingham Washington and other sites necessary for content coordination (such as a post or print office) approximately 1-3 times monthly on a flexible schedule  
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Experience You Bring 

We place a high value on lived experience coupled with professional experience.

  • Associate or undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field OR equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing operations, digital marketing, or related coordination roles
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CRM systems, email marketing platforms, and campaign management tools
  • Strong experience with database management and reporting
  • Proven track record of successfully executing email marketing campaigns
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and template-based design software (Canva, Adobe Express, etc.)
  • Experience coordinating events, webinars, and trade shows
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Excellent project management abilities with experience coordinating cross-functional initiatives
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience maintaining brand consistency across multiple channels
  • Knowledge of marketing automation and workflow optimization
  • Understanding of or interest in food systems, natural products industry, or sustainability practices (preferred)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment

Current Benefit Package 

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance includes a wide range of medical insurance options to choose from. The Project contributes a flat rate ($450) towards employee premiums which covers the base-level HSA medical plan in full. Employees have the option to opt into more robust plans at a slightly higher premium.
